As shown in table 3, the maximum mean is 3.84 to agree with the statement of “the expansion will make the casino more competitive” and the lowest mean score is 2.02 to the statement of “the casino development has helped to improve an image of the city”.
The respondents were more towards to agreeing with the statement of the casino development and continuous expansion will improve their quality of life because the project will include convenient facilities and diversified services to both residents and visitors. Having expanded shopping malls, hotels, golf courses, other entertainment facilities will give an opportunity to enjoy their leisure time on the daily basis.
On the other hand, the project will also bring more people into the region which will push the price of house which will be beneficial to homeowners, but at the same time the price of other goods and services in the area will go up as well. In addition, because more visitors and tourists flow into the region, the respondents were expected to increase the crime rate, pollution, congestion and so on.
In short, the residents were worried about disruption of their daily life and other negative social impacts might bring into the area after the expansion. Therefore, the residents were a little reluctant to agree with the statements of “the expansion will make the city a better place to live” and “the development has helped to improve an image of the city”
